Mr. & Mrs. Harry Houdini wish you A Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
Addendum:
“Just to remind everyone, Houdini and Tom Froggatt [Mirror Cuff Maker (?)] were friends for 20 years. His first Christmas card was sent to Tom at Christmas 1904, and the last one was Christmas 1924.
If Nathanial Hart [Mirror Cuff Maker (?)] existed (and I still think he did) I think it would be inevitable that he and Tom would meet up, considering that he was interested in handcuffs, was himself a metal worker, and they lived in the same city.
I originally thought that Tom and Nathaniel were the same person, but now I’d like to think that they knew each other.”
[Michael Hanzlik quote dated November 25 2014]
Master Locksmith, Houdini historian, an authority on the Mirror Handcuff Challenge passed away on the 1st of November 2015 after a battle with Cancer.
Rest in Peace Mick Hanzlik!
Rest in Peace Mick. Thank you Joe for a wonderful year of fun and educational blogs!
Good possibility that HH and Tom conspired together for the Mirror Challenge if Tom made the cuffs. A Christmas card 20 years after the event? HH never forgot a favor…
Mick speculates that if Houdini had set the whole thing up, surely his friendship with Froggatt would have been known and if Froggatt had made the cuffs under his own name, people could put 2 and 2 together and expose the whole thing. However,if Nathaniel Hart was named, that assumption wouldn’t happen.
So it COULD have been a bit of collusion between the three of them.
Happy New Year 2016 🙂
Indeed! It is going to be another great year for us Houdini Nuts!
