Last year John Cox at Wild About Houdini did an excellent deep dive post on the King of Cards Poster and its reproductions:
That led me to search for and eventually find for my collection, the extremely rare 1961 (first reproduction) King of Cards poster by Tommy Windsor.
The poster came folded up into an insurance policy,
along with Tommy Windsor’s Patter for an effect,
And 12 ways to use the Houdini Posters.
Holy smokes, this is fantastic! Congrats. And you scored on every level. Getting it folded and with the extras shows this is one of the true originals. (I’d love to read that 12 Things sheet.) Congrats again and see you tomorrow at the Castle!
The 12 Things sheet. Is that tied to card magic?
A fellow on Facebook posted a true vintage King of Cards poster, elegantly framed for sale. According to him this poster was in Houdini’s collection in 278. A letter of provenance from one of Bess’s family members backs its authenticity. If I were a buyer I’d have it removed from the frame for closer inspection.
