Thanks for the newspaper clipping Joe! A no nonsense article very well written. You can fill the final chapter in a Houdini bio with just this clipping.
This is a real blast from the past for me. In 1980, I wrote to the Detroit News asking if I could get a copy of the article about Houdini’s death. They sent me the two pages that held this exact article as a negative image, which I guess is how they made copies off their microfilm back then. When I saw that image of Houdini tied to the train wheel, I flipped! I had never seen that photo. So I wrote back asking if I could get a print of that photo, and they sent me a beautiful 8×10 glossy. I still have it.
I so wish I would have asked for those other images as the shot of HH holding the birds is now the image I’ve never seen! (There’s one like it, but not this exact one.)
1980, Wow! The image with the birds is what initially caught my eye when skimming through newpaper achives. Hindsight is 2020. Hopefully the image will surface.
Oh I didn’t notice the birds photo! It’s great! There’s a rabbit photo that kinda looks similar. I bet that rooster was the one used in the Jack Gwynne effect.

Thanks Leo, I have read numberous articles published after his death, and thought this one was worth sharing.
